They were still in a mad jumble alongside the washer in the laundry closet. Still. After all this time. Dustpan, whisk, broom, mop. Need to put one away? Jam it in somehow. Need to get one out? Just try without creating a mini bristle and broomstick avalanche. Why is it that the little (yet not so little?) things get put off, sometimes for years, after moving into a new house? The final punch list falls between the cracks of life, and you're left with cramming cleaning tools into closets.
But, there, in a drawer lies leather lacing; in a bin lie hooks. Imagine that. The solution to the tool tangle, just waiting to happen.
Now, (as she satisfactorily dusts off her hands and stands back to admire her work) duster and whisk hang from the back of the door; the broom, mop, and dustpan from their staggered hooks inside the closet. No more jumble. No more avalanche. Go ahead and let the goodness of that sink in. With this kind of tidy in the cleaning closet, who even needs the stars to align?
Do what you can with what you have.
(Even if it takes, ahem, years!)
