If you follow on Facebook or Instagram, you may remember this ikat print sundress, one of two dresses I scored for a dollar a few weeks ago. I was on the lookout that day for a garden dress. You know the kind - light, airy, long enough, loose enough.
This one leaped at me with its prairie style and layers of cotton lawn. All of that, along with a fifty-cent price tag, and it was almost perfect.
Except that it was strapless. Some ladies can comfortably do the strapless thing. I cannot. Every time I think I may just give it a try, I envision some sort of wardrobe malfunction, and I quickly dismiss the thought.
Lucky for me, this dress provided its own fabric for two simple straps, by way of a flouncy ruffle along the bodice top (which fluttered like sprouting wings when I walked - um, I'll pass!).
The edge of the cut fabric where I sheered the ruffle off is now the perfect raw accent to the dress.
Now, a dress (with straps!), for the garden, or wherever I may like to wear it (I have a feeling I'll be reaching for this one often as the upcoming heat wave breaks upon us).
Do what you can with what you have.
Wishing you a lovely weekend, friends!
