We're near explosion, here. Tiny leaf buds are beginning to uncurl on the country trees, blossoms are close to bursting on the town trees. We can't help but be excited.
And ready to jump in.
With rakes and wheelbarrow, with turns on the lawn mower, we worked in the sun & wind, caring for all this that we've been entrusted with. If felt so good. So good to work together, to listen to our words as they passed by. To demonstrate, to teach, to show that, sometimes the only way is the slow, steady way. To show them that rake handles are to be pulled (not leaned upon), that water is to be drunk often, that lawn chairs are for resting when lunch time comes (it will come).
Then, when the work and the day dwindle, when the sun gets heavy in the western sky, there's time for climbing trees, climbing onto shed roofs (because), building forts in the pasture (nearly 8:00 and they were still out there).
Of course, there's more to be done. There always is. New projects (oh, I have ideas!!) mixed with the maintenance. It'll come. A little here, a little there, as it seems to happen most, with big strides taken now and then in the luxury of an entire day outside.
