I'm currently working on an inspiring project for some great clients. It's new construction and the timeline is VERY crunched, so I find myself working on it in my head 24/7, and at my desk almost as much (or so it sometimes seems). The concept is coming together well, and I'm so looking forward to seeing this family in the beautiful space that they're creating for themselves.
I thought you may enjoy seeing some of the inspiration that's been fueling the kitchen design process. Throughout the house, we're going for a relaxed, welcoming feeling of low-key comfort, with classic touches in exposed beams, painted plank walls & ceilings, and wood floors, windows, and doors. All the trim will be painted to match the walls, with the doors and window sashes finished with an oil, bringing out the natural wood, similar to the photo above.
A large island anchors the kitchen within the open-concept great room/dining/kitchen area, and the cabinets lining the walls will be in a warm natural cherry, with the island painted in a rich blue - similar in color to the bottom photo there.
We will be bringing in some brass accents with the blue and wood tones as well, in bin pulls and knobs on the island drawers and doors.
The faucet will be the above Waterworks Easton bridge faucet in unlaquered brass, which will mellow out to a warm honey color like the faucet here, in Beth Kirby's Local Milk kitchen.
The Walker Zanger tile in the first photo at the top is one that caught my eye (from the April issue of Architectural Digest), and may be influential in our selection for the backsplash.
Thanks for taking a trip through the inspiration file with me! Have a lovely Wednesday!
