So many of you have found your way here through your search for similicity. It may be fair to say that we all desire to find that place in life where there is peace; a place where there is room to breathe and time to do what really matters.
For us, that meant taking a deep and thoughtful look at where we were, where we would like to be, and what it would take to get there.
We chose to leave behind the striving for what our society tells us is necessary, expected, or even required, somehow, in order to have achieved or reached a place of worth.
We chose a different path, instead. We chose the one that said our worth was already within us, that our time was a gift to handle carefully, and that freedom was within our reach.
But, we had to be willing. Willing to let go. Willing to live in places other than our own for a while, willing to risk the negative opinions of many (both real and imagined). Willing to deal with our own doubts and fears as they came. (Yes, we wondered if we had completely lost our minds in even considering this new, simple life.) We had to be willing to take things back to basics, to distill our lives down to what really mattered.
It's been three years now, since we began this journey, and two years since we moved into the little house. It's a good place, I think, to turn around and take a look back over the stretch of time that's past, and see how it's been so far.
Next week, I'll begin a thread of posts describing this look back. I'll describe for you what it's like for five people to live in 665 squre feet. I'll share the truth about the learning and the living and the life.
It might be easy to think, as a writer, and a liver of this lifestyle, that I might already know all the things that you'd be interested to hear, but, truth is, I'm sure I don't. So, if you and I were sitting together by the creek on a sunny spring day with glasses of iced tea in our hands, what would the questions be that you'd like to ask? Leave them here in the comments below.
A bit of housekeeping: I've heard from several of you who are email subscribers to the blog, that you haven't been getting post updates. This seems to be a problem that popped up in April, and we are trying to figure out why. If this is happening to you, please check your spam folder to make sure post updates aren't being caught there. I'm working on the problem on my end as well. If you're finding that the problem is fixed and that you're receiving updates again, would you let me know? Thanks!
Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!
