Hello, friends! Here we are, already well within the day after. Pink is glowing in the eastern sky and the deep night shadows are fading into day.
Our Christmas was blessed. As we sat at the dinner table on Christmas Eve with heads bowed, our hearts were completely taken with gratitude for the amazing abundance that has filled our lives. We reflected on the hard places and the tough days and how life can deal blows that knock the breath right from you. And yet, somehow, in the middle of that, a bird still sings, and a boy laughs, and music is played, and flour becomes bread, and a sketch is drawn, and art is made, and this living rises up from blessings. like. this.
The days leading up to Christmas were busy and full, as they always are. But, moments were savored just the same and what needed to be done, was. The rest we let go of so there would be room in our minds to fully enjoy the now (two kinds of cookies were enough, the candy sent from far away was, too – ‘Good ol’ Auntie Carla’, as the boys say when the caramels arrive).
Now.
Today begins that slice of wonderful between these holidays. Goodness, how I love this. A gift of days to spend deeply with the ones we love. If ever there was an opportunity to be present with my family, this is it. I will be quiet here so I can be fully there.
Thank you for visiting these pages and reading the words written here. You are loved. Blessings to you and yours in this beautiful season of giving that goes far beyond December 25th.
I’ll be seeing you the first Monday in January.
