She’s always loved chocolate. So I got her some of the best. And the zinnias, the bachelor’s buttons, and the marigolds in a footed vase on the nightstand? Those are for her, too. Just because.
Just because she’s my sister, and she’s come all this way, and we have only a few hours to cover it all. She without her littles (and bigs), and me with only a quiet two (why are they shy-hiding up there in that loft?) I covered her in lemon scones and peaches & cream at breakfast, and poured fresh-from-the-garden spearmint tea into her cup. Now it’s well past lunch and we’re too full to eat. It’s the best. We laugh, we talk about our husbands and our kids. She teaches me things about my iPhone I didn’t even know. She always teaches me things I didn’t even know. And we won’t be a bit surprised when we stay up late, with even more words.
And in the middle of it all, in the middle of this weekend, we’ll be photographing a wedding together. All the things we’ve done together over all these years, and we’ve never done this. Excited, yes. Nervous, a bit (my hand’s in the air because you know how weddings only happen once, and nobody’s coming back for a do-over? Yeah.) But good, all the way. To be the ones to capture such a sweet love.
So, friends, I’ll be on my way. Time to press my wedding dress, and decide on the earrings and shoes (I think I’ll go with the pearl drops and change up the shoes from comfy to sassy at strategic points throughout the day (I’ll be on my feet all day and into the night so we’ll see how THAT plan goes).
I’m wishing you all a fabulously long (holiday) weekend!
I’ll see you back here on Wednesday.
