First harvest.
Radishes, a green pepper, green onions, and enough basil to flavor the morning's scrambled eggs. That first harvest has a thrilling zing to it, especially when the planting happened so late, and the growing seemed not nearly as anxious as you. But, leave town for ten days, and boom, you come home to a tomato jungle, ready radishes, full lettuce, and a mass of basil chanting, pesto! pesto! Combine all that with green beans and zucchini from a friend, and your kitchen looks like you've just returned from the farmer's market!
