Bookends

 

 

 

The calm in the morning's breakfast bowl, when the lull of rest hangs thick, and voices have yet to lose the sound of sleep. Sit, scoop, and eat. Nourishment for the body and slow time (if only for a bit, some days) for the soul. 

At night, (far later than you had hoped, but such is the pace of a very full life), showered bodies pile onto the bed, boys calling spots by Mama. Books read from long ago, just now found again. Like familiar old friends come back home, the stories lift off the pages with a sweet hello, and we remember and love them the same all over again. 

These bookends of morning and night, holding the day between, how could we do without them?

Hello shade in the summer sun, good books that never end, lunches on the patio, endless glasses of frosty lemonade sipped from a striped paper straw. Hello grins that turn to laughter. Hello billows of time coming slow and easy.

Gooood Morning!

Time to wake up now.

Let's just slowly open our eyes, stretch our tired muscles, breathe. Let's maybe have a cup of coffee, even though tea is the usual. Let's enjoy the sunrise.

Let's not be alarmed one bit by the fact that computer gremlins are about bright and early on this Monday morning, preventing you from uploading your own photos to the morning's post.  Let's just take that in stride (and thank goodness for Pinterest and copy & paste), and move right along.

Much is happening. Much preparation for upcoming life. No dilly-dallying, here. Not just yet. Fold up that image up there and tuck it into a safe place.

Tie up your boot straps.
