I love to prepare the table setting and atmosphere for dinner with family and friends, and a holiday dinner with family and friends? Even more fun!
This year, for our Thanksgiving table, I envisioned a simple setting, using some things new, some things vintage, and some things handmade.
To begin with, I chose to use my collection of antique silver flatware. Love the worn character of each piece, and the surprise of using assorted patterns together.
Plain white dinnerware and clear crystal stemware added subtle shine, and handmade felted acorns brought in visual texture and interest. (I'll talk more about those little lovelies tomorrow!)
The place cards were created by our youngest guest, with some help from mom and dad, too. What a great idea to include the meaning of each person's name on their card!
A table runner, made with left-over fabric from the slipcover project added another layer of subtle texture.
Because there were seven adults seated around this small table, I opted for a centerpiece of scattered felt acorns and a grouping of thrifted brass candlesticks, instead of a large floral design. Love.
Moss-green napkins, cuffed by wooden rings, and the place cards' ribbon added just enough color, I think - an all together perfect setting for a wonderful night with friends!
