I've got a serious crush going on, here, people. Just look at that photo - how could I not? (Image found here).
Hydrangeas have been a favorite of mine for, oh, ever. They have always had a prominent place in my dream landscape, but then, before we had a yard of our own to plant some in, we moved to Alaska - too cold for hydrangeas, unless you put them in pots and overwintered them in a greenhouse, and did lot of fussing and hovering, which I was too busy doing over three little fellas at the time. Then, we moved to south Florida - too hot for hydrangeas, there. So, you can imagine the silly-excited explosions that went off in my mind when I found out we would be moving north - halfway between these two extremes - to zone 4/5, a wonderful climate for hydrangeas!!
Not too long after we moved into our home here in Wyoming, I had a light bulb moment when I saw this photo while browsing through a back issue of Cottage Living:
A beautiful, simple hydrangea hedge across the front of the house. Oh, my! I could do that here, at this house, I really, really could!
Sigh.
It's about all I can think about lately.
