If you've never gone the absentee voter route, you just don't know the wonderful voting experience you're missing.
I'm here to say that it is, in my humbly strong opinion, the way to go. You just sign the little card they send in the mail, saying that, yes, you would be delighted if the elections office would send you a ballot. Just a couple days later, your ballot will be waiting for you in your mailbox. No packing up kids into the car, no figuring out where you're supposed to drive to, no looking for a parking space once you get there, no standing in line, no helping the sweet little old lady (bless her heart) locate your name on the sign-in sheet, no keeping an eye on three kids while you're in the curtained voting booth.
None of that.
Instead, just sit at your breakfast table with your ballot and a black ink pen, and between sips of your morning tea, fill in the little circles next to your choices. Sign it to make it official, stamp it, and drop it in your mailbox before the mail lady comes around the neighborhood.
So easy.
I suppose the only down side of voting by absentee ballot is that you don't get the all-important "I voted today" sticker. I realize that that may be a deal-breaker for some people. For me, it's a small price to pay.
Now, I'm sure you know this already, but can I just say that there is only one week left until the general election? One week! Have you been thinking that November 4th couldn't get here fast enough, too?
Just remember, whatever you do, and however you do it, vote.
