I've been enjoying a long unwind. It's been wonderful, like a full body stretch that begins as a tingle that explodes out your fingertips, then ripples down through your whole body, giving a pleasing tug to every muscle fiber before exploding out your toes, being all the while accompanied by a long and satisfying squeal.
I'm ready for this new year.
In thinking about this, the new year, and the resolutions that I might make, I kept coming back to here, to this place. To this photo. It has become my inspiration. It inspires me to have vision that sees beyond.
This is a lovely picture of an oak tree with spanish moss hanging from it as the evening sun shines, don't you think? But, as I continued looking, I saw that it's not just that--it's so much more.
Now, look, can you see?
It's a race among the ample rays of the evening sun as they roll, billowing across the flats, their light transcribed into a shining glory as it explodes onto this great cathedral of a mighty oak rising from the earth. Veils of spanish moss, it's windows, glowing as if ever so many slices of stained glass. Gently, softly, the glory settles to the ground, for a moment resting in the simple harmony of a two track road, then, slowly it spills over until every blade of surrounding grass is captured by the last of the sun's farewells.
This is a place that causes you to have vision that sees beyond.
In 2008, I will be here. Often.
