Martha Stewart’s Bedford kitchen photo source
One thing I so enjoy about designing and building is that the placement of the things that fill a home is a forethought and not an afterthought. In designing a very small house for our family of five, I had to be careful and fully intentional about where everything would be placed – before construction even started. In the kitchen, I knew a pot rack would be part of my kitchen design plan from the beginning.
We’ve probably all seen shots of Martha Stewart’s Bedford kitchen, with its statement pot rack hanging over the island. Or Windsor Smith’s hanging over the long farmhouse table in her amazing navy blue kitchen. There’s something beautiful about shiny pots hanging en masse, isn’t there?
But, as I thought about pot racks and searched many images, I realized that I’m less of a pots en masse person, and more of a pots-in-a-row kind of girl.
You’ll see what I mean:

Soon, two bar pot racks will be hung on the wall above the down-draft range, to the left of the barn wood shelves you see there! Oh, it’s the little things, isn’t it?
