Have you ever been bumping along through life, minding your own business, when, suddenly, something hits - Ka-Pow! - out of the blue and changes your world?
We've just been Ka-Powed.
We are moving. Moving 2300 miles north and west from here.
It all began when my guy answered a simple, old, everyday ring-of-the-phone. It was a friend who'd seen a job posting with So-and-So Company, and thought it would be a good fit for my guy. He was right. My guy, in fact, knew the owners of this company from work they were involved with together ten years ago. Good people.
He got the job.
We move in three weeks.
Ka-Pow!
And, you know? We're so excited! It's such a good fit for us. This job will take us back to the Rockies, closer to our roots. Back to mountain rivers and lakes, back to lilacs and peonies, back to the change of seasons. Back to summertime county fairs and wintertime skiing, back to warm days and cool nights. Back to clear, dry air.
Back home...yet not quite home, but we'll make it ours. It'll be a new town full of new friendships.
But, gosh, after almost five years, things about Florida have crept into our hearts. I'm not sure we expected that.
We're leaving the ocean! (Please, can't we scoop it up and take it with?) We're leaving near-constant sunshine, leaving green grass in January, and the mockingbird's call(s).
And how about the many special friendships we've made? You know, the kind where you're sure that you must have known each other far longer than you really have. (Please, can't we scoop them up and take 'em with?) How can you leave that behind?
Not without lots of tears.
Not without lots of tears and those kinds of dreams that make you think that one day, just maybe, part of each year might be spent right here.
Ka-Pow!

My plan is to keep right on posting here in this space, throughout the whole moving process. It may be more pictures and less words, and it may not be every day, but I'll keep the window open for you to peek through.
I'm so excited to have you closer! I still can't wrap my mind around it!

I'm going to miss Florida too!! I feel like I visit there through the blog and I especially love the beach! But I'm super excited to have you all close enough to visit in person. Wahoo!

Hi Carmella,
We are going to miss you and your guys.
BTW,I wouldn't mind being scooped up and taken with. Well, for a little while anyway. I would eventually miss my guy and girls.
Blessings
Susan

Wow, there, you've gone and done it again!
I don't know how you do it! You take the everyday things of life and turn them into such vibrancy. You have learned something the rest of mostly dream about...the ability to "spend" and "bank" at the same time. In "spending" you teach us to taste and savor the blessings and beauty of each day (each moment)...in "banking" you teach us to lock up in memory all the real things of value to be saved up for the treasures they are to us and for the blessings they shall be for others down the road.
Wherever the McCaffertys go...there will be sunshine! Love, Dad
